Soccer is a sport that demands a lot from athletes. You've got to constantly change directions, switch up your tempo, and perform a ton of different actions like shooting, dribbling, and passing. And that's just the beginning!
When we take a closer look at professional soccer players, we see that they're performing between 100-250 intense actions every game, including high-speed running and sprinting. They're covering a total distance of 4-9 miles and their bodies are doing 1100-1500 different activities every 4-6 seconds. Talk about intense!
To keep up with all of this, soccer players need to develop their capacity to maintain a high level of performance for longer periods of time. They've got to be able to recover quickly between actions and keep going strong.
